Rock Ola 440 Write in not stopping

by simmo2005 » Sun Sep 18, 2016 10:27 pm

Hi All
I have a 1969 Rock Ola 440 which up until now has worked very well - I am hoping that someone can point in the right direction to try and pinpoint the problem or a good starting point.
The problem is that I can select a disc and the write-in arm starts to spin and then just spins until I physically operate the button release switches. If I manually activate the write in carriage hammer and engage one of the selections the read out functions correctly and discs play as they should. I have checked all the fuses and they are fine.
My observations:
The Singles select lite is always on.
The coin select switches do nothing to the credit selection
i have power to the ADR relay but the accumulator reset coil does not energize and the selection impulse switches seem to do nothing.

it seems to be something to do with the credit switch but I am not sure where to start with it.

Any help or pointers on where to attack this from would be great

thanks
Simeon

Hi Simeon,
That problem is usually the result of "contamination" on the write-in slip rings that are on the pin-bank. I have been able to "cure" that by "washing them" with a safety solvent, then using Deoxit-5, EXACTLY, as directed on the can.

Hi Ron,

I have ordered some contact cleaner and will start there. Thank you for the reply.

Hi
Also check that the receiver jumper plug is seated properly as well as the stop relay, the jumper plug for the receiver should be labelled on the power supply

Simeon,
"Contact cleaner" may, or may not do it--I strongly suggest Deoxit-5--only thing I have found that works, and only if used after safety solvent, and as per can instructions ! Ron Rich

Hi

Thank you Ron for the advice on the solvent, I shall have a look and see what I can get. I will also give all the plugs etc a check over to make sure I haven't missed one.

thanks for the advice

Simeon
