Rockola 443 will not write in?

by edisonsclone » Mon Mar 16, 2009 5:36 pm

I have recently been working on a rockola 443 that had been working ok, minus a few bugs.....I have recently encountered a new problem, when a selection is made , the write in carriage will not move, the credit unit and write in relay and such...seems to be trying to work but just buzzes and sits their? I then shut the machine off ..turn it back on ..which then resets it. As i always say in my posts I am still kinda new to jukeboxes but I am getting a-little more aware of how they work, so if i dont make sense...correct me in any areas...but any info would be helpful

Where's the "buzz" ? If it's the motor, or even if not--oil the WI motor---along with the rest of the motors--I suggest a SAE 20wt. ND oil--Ron Rich

Well, what was the "Buzzing Problem"?
If the WI arm is spinning, it probably has dirty contacts on the wiper--I clean them by using a plastic safe safety solvent on the rings/rivets. and then with "De-Ox-IT". I clean the "fingers" FIRST, by spraying the safety solvent onto a bit of construction paper and then "running over" the paper with the fingers. That usually does it for me--Ron Rich

Well....the contacts are clean ..the machine had been working ok for a while this is a recent thing , as for the buzzing....when a selection was made , something in the selection unit was sticking..I cleaned some contacts ??? and that seem to help ?? who knows? but anyway the same problem still remains....selection is made and the write in carriage arm just keeps spinning
