New member with Seeburg LS2 that plays each record in order

by e093116 » Mon Jul 25, 2016 5:30 pm

Hello,

I purchased a Seeburg LS2 that I am fixing up as a gift for my parents. When I got it, the machine wouldn't play the b-sides of the records, but thanks to this website, I was able to find some information that helped me fix the problem (broken wire on the contact block). The machine has played great for the past couple of weeks, but now a new problem has come up.

The machine will play each record, in order, without any selections being made (coin mechanism is present/operable). I have both the LS1 manual and the LS2 supplement. Just wondering if anyone has seen this problem before or where to start to for troubleshooting? In reviewing the manual (LS2 supplement figures 7-10), the write in trigger switch, trip relay and trip solenoid seem to be logical places to start...the hardest part in the previous repair was finding the contact block and correlating the schematic to the actual hardware, that took me longer than actually identifying & fixing the problem!

Thank you in advance for any assistance and for this website as well.

Bill

Hi Bill,
That's probably the EZ ist fix on that phono--
Look at the Tormat (RCA) plug on the SCC. Using crocus cloth, clean the outside of the socket. Check that the shield and one insulated wire, are still soldered to that plug, re-solder if needed, tighten the RCA plug "outter shell" and you should not have that problem again for about 20 years-- Ron Rich

Ron,

Thank you for sharing your experience. Issue & fix just as you described.

I found the wires & plug were in good condition, but the socket was oxidized. I also thought the fit of the plug/socket was a little bit loose (as suggested), so I lightly bent the "wings" on the plug with finger pressure to create a little bit more contact force between the two surfaces.

Took me about 10 minutes to fix...definitely made shop time on this job. It most likely would have taken several hours to figure this out without your help!

Thanks again.

Bill
