Craigslist Horror Stories -- Don't let this happen to you.....

I realize that the ten stories represent worst case scenarios, but they also show how important it is to take some precautions when buying, selling, etc., anything on Craigslist, or any anonymous "market place" posting board.

:!: -- never exchange personal information when responding to an add, or responding to an inquiry about YOUR ad.
:!: -- never go alone, when you meet someone concerning an ad.
:!: -- make sure the transaction takes place in a public place.

Indeed Joe, a little "common sense" goes a long way.
I dunno what's up with a lot of today's society - all smartphone-addicted, yet dumb as a box of rocks.

I just sold a pricey Denon turntable on CL - but the older gentleman came to my shop to check it out and buy it.
A safe transaction for sure.
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.

Hey guys,
It ain't only on a "list" ! Last Thursday one of our credit card issuers called and asked if we had given anyone in Italy, a copy of our card ! It seems that somehow, someone there had one--and this is a fairly new account, as the issuer changed it from a Master Card to Visa, about 8 months ago ? I told the caller that I found it awful that the bank would allow my card to travel to Italy, without at least asking permission !
