+8 VDC light problem with Rowe R-85

Hi. Hoping someone can help me as my late husband took care of the jukebox and now it's apparently my turn... I have a field service manual for an R87 but I'm not having any luck with my R-85. 1-Turn on jukebox and the display area doesn't light up. Flashing exterior lights and fluorescents inside the actual box DO light up. 2-On the main power supply (#4-07313-01), the +8VDC light is off. The 28VAC and +28VDC are on. No change when photo harness disconnected. 3- 8VDC also out on central computer control (#6-08870-06) 4-tried unplugging connectors in order mentioned in repair book (ccc, mech control harness, mech control) with no change. 5-all harnesses and wires SEEM to be ok. followed wiring diagram in manual to trace +8VDC and logic common wires (apparently work together) and saw no problems. Is there anything else I need to do? Any ideas? or just bite the bullet and buy a new CCC? and then do the upgrade for ipods (daughter is high schooler)? HELP!!!!

I would find a newer, upgraded power supply board. You could fix the one you have. There are fuses on the printed curcuit board. You could find a paid professional in your area to help you.

You have a problem on the power supply circuit board inside the power supply chassis assembly.

Likely a blown fuse because of a shorted diode on that power supply board.

Hi,

You need to take the power supply out of the R-85 jukebox to inspect and test/repair it.

The problem could be a dry joint an the circuit board (Rowe ami have always had a problem with dry joints, called cold joints in the USA), if it is a dry joint it would be more than likely be on the long plug that goes to the transformer. Check for cracking around the soldered pins if you find any resolder the connections.

If dry joints are not the issue then it will be down to diodes or a transistor in that part of the circuit.
You will need a manual that shows the power supply it would have to be a R-84 or R-85 manual because on the R-86 upward they changed the power supply layout.
