Hi all - so glad I found this forum!

I have inherited a Viva-tonal Grafonola, Columbia Gramaphone Company Ltd No 201.

Along with various records including: Decca, Regal, Brunswick, Parlaphone, Panachard and His Masters Voice.

All in working order and fairly good condition, (as far as I can see!)

Can anyone give me any more information, approximate value and tell me whether it is worth insuring?

I look forward to finding out about it - many thanks in advance.

Michaela

I spotted a Columbia Viva-Tonal model 201 that was/is for sale on eBay -- item # 110118797907 -- http://cgi.ebay.com.cn/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... egory=1442 from a China-based seller. This one appears to be in so-so condition. I believe that they list an asking price of about 150 GBP. (Google's translation software does not work very well, but the "150" appears in the area of the "By it Now" price.)

These, and similar models--circa early 1930s Columbia Viva-Tonal portable gramophones--come up for sale quite often on eBay. The prices normally range from about 50-100 GBP, or about $100-$200, depending on condition.

Many thanks Joe, that is really helpful. I will take a look at Ebay and make sure I look after it.

*Added: Yep, it's definately the same but mine is in much better condition. Thanks again. :D
