New to these boards, but someone from KLOV boards suggested I post my questions here. I'm trying to restore my Seeburg USC2. Almost have it working the way I want. But I do have a few questions...

1) I want to play the small hole 45 records on without it reverting to 33 1/3 RPM. These are import 45 RPM records and I prefer not to take the route of cutting/dinking a larger hole.

I've read that others have been able to disable the autospeed so it plays small hole records at 45 RPM, but they don't explain HOW they disabled it. I already tried unplugging the autospeed connector on the DCC but that just caused the jukebox to not play any selection at all. I can't find anything in the documentation I have (including Ron Rich manuals). However, it appears in the service manual that there is a dummy plug for the autospeed. I suppose that's if you don't have autospeed, but I don't have one of those dummy plugs, so?

Can anyone who has done this with their USC2 (or other Seeburg with autospeed) help me out? Do I need to disable/disconnect something at the mechanism?

2) More important issue at the moment: I just put it all back together, all the "test" selections worked and the juke was fine for a few days until last night when I selected 279 which caused the mechanism to go all the way to the right and just stop. The record did not select, the display lights indicate 179 and now it won't respond to any selection inputs. The mechanism doesn't move and only the turntable spins when I make a selection. Any suggestions on what to look at?

To disable the autospeed you either need to use a "dummy plug" as you saw in the manual, or, you can cut the power wire to the relay in the autospeed.I would also suggest that you un-plug the PCB in the SAS-2
If your TT is spinning, it indicates that the mechanism clutch is in the "play" position. Try lifting the detent release lever, and it should cycle. Why it did that is another question---possibly a lubrication problem, or did "something" get on the "track, that it's "jamming on"?

Your Mechanism Guide has been very helpful.

As for disabling the autospeed, I haven't had a chance to get to that yet, but I will post a reply once I'm able to try your suggestion.

OK, I took the easiest route to disable the autospeed and got myself a dummy plug. Just unplugged the autospeed and put in the dummy plug. All my records (small and big hole) now play at 45 RPM. All is well.

Did you buy or make the dummy plug?

I would think that cutting one wire would be "the easiest route" ?? However, the "dummy plug" is the "correct way". Glad you have solved your "problem".

Ken, in the end I decided to just buy the dummy plug. I thought briefly about making my own "dummy plug" by inserting two wire jumpers to rig it, but as Rich put it, I wanted to do it the "correct way" and make it easy to switch back if I ever chose to do so.
