Seeburg Cloth Covered Cables

by juke46 » Sat Jun 20, 2015 1:09 pm

I have started to assemble the old Seeburg V I am restoring after getting the cabinet done. The electrical cables all look good, as far as the wire insulation, but the cloth type coverings are really frayed and look really poor. I wondered if there was a favorite item available that would kind of cover up the appearance. I've seen some taped up the entire length but it really isn't something I want to do and it makes them stiff. I am a lousy "taper" anyway. Maybe everyone just uses those plastic wrap thingys? I have one for the mechanism cable since the nice factory coiled covering is in poor condition with some of it missing. Thanks As always from the Geritol Ghetto (It is HOT-HOT here!).

Hi David,
If the tear is small, I just use a cloth tape to cover it--if I remove cloth from a mechanism cable ( due to a broken wire), I use (the small size) plastic tie wraps, every two-three inches and re-cover it with spy-wrap. On "non-moving" cables, I just use the tie wraps--- Ron Rich
