Hello all. I have a Rockola 474 and the hammer coil on the read out circuit sometimes stays energized when the record is set on the turntable. At first the amp would cut out when this happened so I adjusted the gripper cam with the microswitches and the amp issue went away. I also replaced the junction relay box setting under the turntable and it worked for several plays and the coil started staying energized again. The jukebox also wont reject when the coil is energized. The only way to unenergize the hammer coil is to move the interlocking relays on the junction box. The junction box I am using on this jukebox right now is a known good working box that came out of my Rockola 464. I can be standing right by the jukebox and play and cancel 10 selections and as soon as I walk away from it, it will start energizing again. although I have many extra hammer coils I wouldn't want to burn this one up if possible. Thanks.

Update. I selected and canceled about 50 selections and the hammer coil stayed energized 3 times. I can now cancel the record from the cancel switch inside the jukebox and the coil will deenergize hit cancel twice and it will reject the record.

Hi
Does the problem happen with a and b sides? I would replace the microswitch that controls this ..switch 2A and check connections on it, or try another solenoid on the read out arm, and for good measure clean the slip rings on the wobble plate and contacts on the read out arm, i would suspect it is microswitch 2A

Hi Clones. I believe I have the jukebox fixed. I pulled the junction box and cleaned all the contacts and relays and it has been playing without fault for the last Two and a half hours. This jukebox has been in hibernation for the last fifteen years so I serviced the pinbank and mechinism before I even plugged it in. I bought about 40 rockola and seeburg jukeboxes from a local vendor last year for $25.00 a piece. I have been able to fix almost all of the rockolas with the help of this forum. I prefer to work on rockolas because they are simpiler to fix. I have been parting out the seeburgs and selling the parts on ebay and have been getting as much if not more fore them than I am getting for the rockolas after I service and fix them. Tanks again Clones for your suggestions.
