Hi...we have a Magnavox 1ST611R record player that won't play. It seems the reject switch is missing and stuck on rejects. Where should the switch be? Is there a switch? How do you switch if from reject?

All of the arms move, the record drops and spins but the play arm just goes back to the rest position.

Any thoughts?

Thankx

Two questions:

1. Have you released the turntable shipment locks? If not, the change cycle will repeat.

2. Are you putting the record up on the spindle? The arm feels for a record while it is up on the spindle, and then the record drops. If the spindle is empty of records, it will shut itself off. The picture shows how. The tip of the arm touches the record.

Thanks for the tips! I do have the record load properly as suggested in point 2. As i am new to working with record players, I was not aware that they have shipment locks where would i find them to see if they are off?

thank you again for your help!

also is there a site out there with general "troubleshooting for phonographs" just to help point one in the right direction of a problem?

There are two rectangular slides located on the plinth. You can see then here:

Look at the left near the back, and at the front on the right. Slid one way, they pull the changer down for shipment. Slid the other way, they free the changer to float in its springs for use. There is an arrow showing which way to move them to lock down the turntable. Turning them a quarter turn releases the changer for removal.
