Noise when the plate is spinning

by Teemu » Fri Jun 05, 2015 9:12 pm

Hi! I bought HMV model 101. When the plate is spinning there comes a strange noise. Similiar what begins at 0:04 in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xz0SMeGeDLw Could anyone tell why it keeps that noise and is it harmful? Music will cover that noise so it doesn't bother me when I'm listening something.

You mean that BRRRRRR noise?

It sounds like the leather friction pad that interacts with the governor could use some oil.

This assumes that the motor, itself, is in good condition, with no worn gears, and has been adjusted and thoroughly lubricated over the past few years.

Okey thanks for help! I checked and the noise came from the leather pad.
