AMI 40 WALLBOX AND STEPPER PROBLEM

.Hi..I am the owner of a working AMI "C" Jukebox and AMI 40 Wallbox and matching stepper..All three were working fine until the stepper unit (stepper motor) suddenly would not latch or stop when a selection was made.>The jukebox works excellent by the way still on its own and voltage to the wallbox seems OK as well..If I simultaneously break one of the connections to the Control Relay, (CR) in the stepper when I make a Wallbox selection, the stepper seems to work OK.and stop.If I leave it connected, the stepper will not stop..When the stepper does stop it does return to thehome position....I have the AMI stepper and 40 Wallbox service manual with 9 chronological diagrams of relays/in/out at various stages of a selection but it is difficult to tell which stage is failing.Looks like between Diagram 6 where the stepping relays are finally activated and Diagram 7(Closing Selection Circuit)where the circuit to the Control Relay CR1 in the stepper unit is broken.Control relay and Time relay in Stepper seem to work and the Wallbox seems to shut off but the Control relay stays in for some reason allowing the stepper motor to keep running.and the Money Credit Relay in the Wallbox remains closed until I manually break or release the Contact Relay in the Stepper..When the stepper is running like this no selection, right or wrong, is made in the Jukebox....Any suggestions before I continue to mess with this beautiful set up that was working super and do more damage..???? Thanks for your consideration...Bruce

Hi Bruce,
This is just a guess--hopefully someone who knows for sure, will chime in--
If the wallbox has a motor with a clutch, is it stopping asit should, or going just a"hair" too far--lack of lubrication on the motor can cause this symptom in later wall-boxes--Ron Rich

Hi Ron..Thanks for the response.....I dont see a clutch in the wallbox but I might be missing something..In the wallbox the selection chain wheels manually drive a ratcheted black plastic gear with a contact plate on one side..Through the centre of this black plastic gear is a free turning shaft attached to another contactor plate with a homing position...On the opposite end
of this shaft is the wallbox stepper motor with a grey pot metal gear and ratchet springs..It appears that the stepper in the wallbox will stop at its homing position but the one in the stepper unit will not..Both stepper motors/ratchets are working..I will try and lubricate(conservatively) each one and see if that helps..thanks again..here goes...Bruce

PS.. Hi again...I forgot to mention that I am doing these tests with the Wallbox and stepper/stepper power supply outside of the Jukebox and disconnected from it..Looking at the diagram I cannot really tell if there is any feedback from the 40 electromagnetic relays in the Jukebox that might afftect the stepper operation or tell it to stop but I don't think so.....Although I did try it again(before the lubrication which I'm about to do) and it made no difference if the whole set up is plugged into the Jukebox or not, the stepper motor kept running..They're way easier to work on when on on the bench...Thanks again...Bruce
