Repro Wurlitzer 532 amplifier circuit boards

by Ken Layton » Mon Dec 02, 2013 8:05 pm

I'm going to be working on a Wurlitzer model 532 amplifier very soon from a model 2200 jukebox. I hear these have problematic preamp pc boards in them and that someone has made a reproduction preamp board for this model.

Can anyone give me some information about it? Who makes it? Where do you buy it? The amplifier I'm getting to repair is likely going to need one of these boards as the original is in pretty sad shape.

Looks like your options are to contact Honeyjukes

or Jukebox Revival

How bad is your current PCB? I have a rebuilt 532 amp where I kept the original PCB. I was fortunate that there was minimal damage to the board from previous repairs. I do advise that extra care be taken when working with the original PCB so that you do not lift the copper off the board. There are service instructions on the PCB cover on how to remove components from the board and I think they are good instructions that if followed will help prevent damage. Using those instructions is very helpful if you are a novice when working with single sided PCBs.

I've got a Hakko 808 desoldering gun and done many single and double sided boards over the years.

Judging by the pictures I've seen of the amplifier that will be coming to me for repair, the board has several cracks and tons of mouse piss damage. So it is quite likely the purchase of that new board may be required.

Hi Ken,
"Mouse pee" washes right off a PCB--just remove the board and soak it in 91 proof--er %,
al-key-haul--(the "rubbin' kind, NOT the "drinkin' type !) On that type PCB, I always clip the leads, and suck the wire from the bottom side. You should have "no problems"-- Ron Rich
