Seeburg M100C amp, R1 resistor

The R1 w.w. resistor in the Seeburg MRA3-L6 amp is suppose to be 1200 ohms (5%), 10 w. It has been previously replaced with a 2000 ohm w.w. resistor. Should a resistor with the original specs be installed? What effect would the higher ohm resistor have?

I would change it back to a 1200--if you read the parts list, you will see a (*) next to the value listed--if you read below, it states that this should be a 5% tolerance device. I would assume that using the larger one causes voltages to be "off"--but you might measure then to see exactly how far--

I've searched many of the local suppliers and found several types of wire wound resistors having the same specifications for the R1 resistor (1200 ohms, 10 watts, 5% tolerance) but having very different construction methods. These included various types of winding methods, type of wire alloy, operating temperature, type of terminal style, cement filled, tubular, silicon coated, vitreous enamel, among others.

Based on the above choices, what type wire wound resistor should I be purchasing in order to replace the damaged original? Which supplier would likely sell that type resistor?

As long as it's rated at 1200/5 watts, 5%, the construction won't make any difference--
