Magnavox Astro-Sonic or Tube model wanted

Hi, as most of you already know, my name is Mike, and I am a collector of Vintage Stereo Consoles, Preferrably Magnavox. I have a 1963 Magnavox Astro-Sonic console stereo, that I am looking to replace. But, I do not want to sell or get rid of it until I find another console I like. I want to replace it because it's really wide and takes up a lot of space. I would rather something taller, but not as wide. It also needs to refinished. But theres only one probem, It works wonderful for being 45 years old. That's why I want another Magnavox.

I want something preferably from the 60s. Anything from 1960, to like 1968. I have many working Magnavox Micromatic turntables. I am from Pennsylvania, so if any of you are from Pennsylvania and have a Magnavox to sell, feel free to send me pictures and I'll make you an offer. I know shipping these consoles can be quite expensive, but I would be willing to have it shipped to me if the right console ever came along, and depending what kind of condition it's in. The thrift stores around me rarely ever carry Magnavox Consoles. The only thing I have ever gotten from a thrift store if my Magnavox Television. Also, the Flea Market where I got my last stereo rarely have any either. All the nice ones on ebay are usually far away from me, and they usually won't ship. So, let me know if you have any information!

thanks,
mike

I know it is not exactly what you are looking for, but I have a Magnavox Concert Grand, and was wondering if you would be interested. If not, do you know anyone else who might be interested? I was going to list it on eBay until I found this site. I am in Toledo, OH, so not too far from you. It is in extremely excellent condition, including book and Magnanox certificate. I can send you pictures, but I do know if I can do it through this site. You can reach me at 419-509-6912 or email francismachinemail-records@yahoo.com. Thank you for your time and have a great day.

Man, hit those THRIFT STORES. I've got about 10 Astro-Sonics and a few later, early 70's consoles. Never paid more than 50 bucks max. I got one long, low one (the Santiago Astro-Sonic 100 1-RP667) for 25 bucks and it really kicks. It looked a little beat up at first, but when I got it home and cleaned up the cabinet, it looks practically new. My cousin gave me his Francisco Astro-Sonic 100 (1-RP679)because he moved back to Pennsylvania. It needs a cap job, but it's gorgeous.

These 100's have a separate power amp mounted on the floor of the unit and boasts 100-Watts of undistorted music power. I think one has the 15" Super-Sonic Woofers (48 oz. magnets) and the other one has 15" heavy-duty high eficiency woofers (20 oz. magnets)

There are so many products out there nowadays to bring some shine and luster back to these beautiful cabinets and also remove minor scratches. Best of luck to you. --BB

Hello I am moving and I have a 1968 Magnavox Astro sonic I bought new. I have been the only owner and the only thing it needs is a new needle for the record player. It is in great condition and still sounds great. Let me know if you would like a picture or a short video of it working.

Note To Phonomike:

I noticed in one of your messages that you were looking for a smaller Astro Sonic. The receiver works fine but I don't know about the turntable as I haven't tried it. It worked fine when this unit was put into storage. I bought it in the late 60s. Cabinet is a dark walnut color. I know your post was quite some time ago but here's what I have:

Magnavox Astro Sonic
Model # 1P3773
Serial # 4984570
Overall Dimensions:
52" H
30" W
19" D

It has the receiver and turntable (45 and 33) in the lower part and an open area above for a TV.
TV area dimensions:
18" H
25" W
17" D

I plan to put it on Craig's List shortly.

Regards,
BB

What a beauty...

I have that exact cabinet in my 3rd bedroom, except mine is 1966 and has an older style tuner, but same turntable. Sorry for the grainy cell phone pics. For some reason, my pics are posting tiny. Oops, I don't know what I did, but it's corrected. I believe mine is the 1-RP621 from a 1966 Maggie Brochure but the tuner looks more modern. --BB

Mike,

We live in Allentown, PA and have a Magnavox Astro Sonic console for sale. It was our Dad's and not used for many years prior to his recent passing.

The unit has 2 top sliding panels, a record player, stereo radio that seems to work and an 8 track player. We can't seem to get the turntable to turn. The unit is in good condition and has two cloth panels on the front.

Don't know where in PA you are located, but if you are still interested pls. email and we can go from there.

PS-Am having trouble sending pics - will send separately if requested.
