Rock ola CD-8 bubbler broken

by weasel » Thu Jan 03, 2013 4:32 am

Hello, and happy New Year. I have a Rock ola CD-8 I believe its called 'nostalgia'. Anyhow I noticed today that one of the bubbler tubes is empty and theres broken glass and little pebbles at bottom of my jukebox. Just wondering if anyone knows a place that would have replacement parts close to Barrie, Ontario Canada. I also found out at my New Years eve party that the arm that grips the cd and picks it up was sometimes missing and not picking up the cd.
Any info really appreciated

Cheers
Brent

Hi Brent,

I would try at www.victoryglass.com
These items are never cheap and cost the earth to deliver, due to the packing required.

Regards
Alan

Brent,
When you contact Victory, it may help to have ALL info that is shown on the ID tag on the rear of the cabinet handy--there are several "variations" in the CB-8 cabinets--
On the missing the CD problem--common RockOla problem--OIL the gripper arm with 20 wt. ND oil ONLY. Get the oil into the two spring loaded sections ( stop the gripper motor with the gripper "straight up" --push/ pull on the two sections as you oil it).
Also, be SURE to get oil between the two exposed gears on the side of the gripper. Ron Rich

Thanks for both of your replies. Heres my update. I called a distributor in the area - Starburst/playdium and they have wurlitzer tubes that they believe will fit, I have removed the tube and will take it in to see if theyre combatible. I guess Ill have to check the colour of the oil too. If anyone knows that they arent interchangeable please message me.
Next Im going to try and tackle the gripper arm. Ill have to look for the oil that you specified, thanks !!

So last question is want to upgrade the Title cards - any suggestions?

thanks again for all replies

Cheers
Brent

Update:: Solved

As a FYI Wurlitzer and Rock ola tubes are identicale, colour and size.

I oiled the gripper arm as instructed and the arm is working perfectly. I didnt dissasemble the gripper arm but removed the white grease I could see and oiled the two spring areas and that seemed to do the trick. There was very little white grease, as in almost none.

Lastly, I ordered the Title cards from the Rock ola site.

Thanks for the information, I appreciated your time
