Hey guys,
Just picked up a project Rowe R-91 Combo Unit yesterday. I have owned one of these before so I have a pretty good idea of how to address some of the issues, but this one has a few I haven't had to deal with yet. I have a few questions I was hoping you could help me out with:
1 - The top of the unit is broken/split in two. I am fairly comfortable repairing wood cabs, etc, but have not ever done fiberglass. What epoxy or resin should I use to repair this? I plan on removing the lid, disassembling it, then epoxy, clamp and refinish. I just don't know what will work best to "glue" it back together. Here's a pic: https://flic.kr/p/zR6618
2 - The CD changer is inop. It won't accept the CD magazine when I push it in. It might be more cost effective to just get another changer, but my question is - is that possible? Can I just get a changer of the same model from ebay and retrofit (it looks like there are some Rowe specific mods I believe I would need to do to it.
3- I need to refoam the woofers. They're literally crumbling apart. Other than eBay, where is a good place to get the foam surrounds.
4 - 3 - Dollar Bill changer does not pull hard enough to get the bills in. The motor keeps turning and turning, and it feeds it back and forth inside, but only sucks one all the way through every once and a while. I assume this to be an adjustment or maybe I need to pull it apart and clean the roller. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum.

As I mentioned elsewhere the R-91 like other jukeboxes in the Rowe Ami range from the R-89 upwards, suffered from cracked cormers on the upper section of the front door, a company produced a metal insert that bolted on the inside, the hydrolic stays where then fitted onto this plate which took the strain off of the corners.
Maybe Ron knows who produced them?

With regards to the CD player is it a Pioneer or a Sony? I would take off the top of the player to make sure there is not a CD jammed in the player.

EBay has to be be your best bet for the foam surrounds on your bass speakers.

Thanks for the help guys. A couple of more questions for you:
The CD Player is a pioneer. I am going to take it apart today and see if I can figure out why it won't accept the cartridge. Again - it goes all the way in, but won't stay in. If I hold it in, it cycles cd's and plays like it should.

I also have a new error - er 24. I have reflowed the solder to all pins on the keypad, reflowed the header on the display board and also removed and reinserted all plugs to ensure they have a good connection. The error remains. Any idea where to go next?

But says it's a stuck popular key signal. Troubleshooting starts with replace computer...

Ron, reading it correctly. Wish I wasn't, but I am.

Specifically it says "POPULAR on the keyboard is always closed. Follow the steps for Er13. "

So when you go to steps to fix Er13 it says start by replacing computer, then digital display, then keyboard, then computer to display harness, then display to keyboard harness.

All of this said, I don't have an R-91 manual. I am using the R-93 Manual. I assume the error codes are the same. The thing that doesn't make sense is that the POPULAR key is not really stuck at all. What I mean is that if I put it in service, I still have to push and hold the POPULAR key and enter the security code to get it to programming mode. If the POPULAR key was stuck closed, I would only have to enter the zeros. Does that make sense?

The manuals with regards to the error codes and advice are basically all the same from the R-89 (advice in this manual is very limited) up to the R-94.

With regards to error 24 it is the same as errors 13 to 24, if resetting the error does not sort out the problem you have to start looking for shorts on the display board, and the two looms that connect to the CCC and the keyboard.

Check the Power supply voltages, and battery voltage,--replace if necessary. Then do a "total default re-set" and see if it clears up--
If not, I guess you start looking for a short, or replace the CCC. I have rebuilt CCC's, for them in stock--PM, me if you wish to purchase one.

Thanks AMI-man. I did reset the error by using code 669 I believe it was (going off of memory here). And the error has remained gone. I have power cycled the juke about two -three times and it is still not reading the error. Hopefully that was it. Any thoughts?

Also - can any Pioneer PD-M6 changer be made to work with the juke? Again, the one that came with it is not operating properly but replacements (used of course) are only about 40-60 dollars. But they are the standard commercial models and not the jukebox ones. I assume I have to do some modding of it get it to work. Is that correct?
