Hello all.

I have a Magnificent Magnavox that I found among my dad's possessions. It might have been his parents? I will most likely sell it, but am having trouble identifying its model/year. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Record-Changer could give you a more accurate answer but I'm thinking mid-'50s or newer judging from the turntable and receiver. I have one I bought for $5.00 at a sale and restored which is a little older. Those old Maggies had wonderful tone and my fiance' even prefers to listen to her rock (oh the horror) on it. As for the model # it's on the back or inside. Good luck.

That's a Magnavox customization of a Collaro Continental TSC-840 record changer. It was made from 1959 to 1962. It was the last 3-size record changer Collaro made until 1967.

I think but guessing this is 1955-56 because of the turntable. this probably has the amp-142 20 watt that uses 2 5y3 rect. and 4 6v6 power tubes. in it and 2 12"woofers and 1 small horn tweeter. This style is simular to the continetal that is in my 1957 brochure but the drop feeler on your early style collaro made changer but with 2 screw cartridge mounting instead of the plug in style headshell. which I have one of that style Im sure "record changer" could tell the difference. Ive learned alot from his website on the collaro Please take a pic of the rear showing parts. where are you located. also I belong to yahoo groups called magnavox friends that thrives on this stuff. its free to join.

In lieu of the horn tweeter it may have two 3"( + or - ) inside the cone area of the 12" woofers like mine does.

This is an early stereo model from 1959. There is a duplicate on eBay right now listed with the starting price of $199 in the NY area. Some great close-up photos, and shots of the rear and amp.

It is part of a two-piece "companion" set. They used four 6V6 output tubes. There should be a matching remote speaker cabinet for stereo operation, with a speaker switch for Internal, External, or Stereo. The one on eBay is also missing its companion speaker. The remote speaker was optional. Stereo operation would only apply to the turntable and a tape deck. FM Stereo multiplex did not yet exist, so this is FM mono. At the time, stereo broadcasts were accomplished via an AM/FM simulcast (one channel on FM, the other on AM). There would be a switch labeled AM/FM for that purpose, and independent tuning dials. This model does not have that function.
