Rowe Ami MM-6 Problem

My Rowe MM6 (1972) was working great until a few days ago. The carousel (scan) still works great. It is on free play. When a selection is made, the carousel spins to the correct selection and then everything stops right when the arm is about to grab the record to bring to the turntable. I can hear the motor(s) trying to work, but everything locks up. I can help (force) the record grabbing arm to get the record and then lower it to the turntable. When the record is done (or cancelled) nothing happens again unless I help/force it. I think I have oiled / greased all the moving parts. Any suggestions/advice appreciated.

Sounds like a mechanical problem. If the motor is trying but can't, it's probably OK. Usually they either work or they don't. It's much easier to diagnose the problem in slow motion rather than operating speed. To do this: turn off the main power switch and look to the left side of the mech below the turntable. A motor shaft extends with a cam and several switches. This motor also operates the transfer arm assembly. An Allen screw is in the end of the shaft. Insert an Allen wrench into the screw, and with the wrench handle upward,(clockwise rotarion) pull it slowly towards you. This will operate the transfer arm for a "B" selection. To check "A" selections, manually push in on the solenoid coil to the right of the transfer arm and continue turning the motor. You can observe the cycle and will probably feel a bind as you continue movement. At that point, start looking for something bent or misaligned. Make sure the basket slots are perfectly centered and locked beneath the transfer arm. Rotate the basket slightly from side to side to make sure it's firmly in place and the sprag is caught.

Thanks for the tips johntrav!!! I moved the arm with the aid of an allen wench and everything moved slowly with a little force. I oiled and Lubriplated the pivot points and gears as I turned the arm. Things started to move a little more fluid. I worked the oil and grease in some more. I powered it up - and it works like a champ!!! Shame on me for neglecting the lubrication maintenance. This juke is a work horse and sounds great.
