Hello!
I have an old 7" record, recorded in London with a " British Militay Band ". The label is green and in golden letters " Zonophone Record " 666. It is only printed on one side. The other side says Zonophone. Reproduced in Germany.
Can anyone please tell me when it was produced?
Regards Arne Trollalen, Norway

I might be able to help if you can tell me the matrix number. It can usually be found in the blank area just outside the record label. It should be something like 4321e or 1234H etc.

I managed to find it in the Truesound online discography, where it's listed as being recorded on 11/12/1901.

Just wondering--will you be able to play any tape, CD, or DVD 100 years from now--
My bet would be "no"---but 'll bet you still could play that record--- Ron Rich

So true so true. There are already some cd`s that doesn`t work anymore, tapes will after some time delete themselves cause to the magnetic field internal. But the records will after some time, and wear stop playing too. Is it possible to record anything for the future? That realy lasts? This record " The stars and stripes forever" is realy worn. It has been played at a " portable " wind-up-recordplayer for decades, when i tried it on my newer recordplayer it sounded very bad. So i gues it is the end of the line for the old record too. It will be put in a way in a drawer somewere.
