Wallboxes for sale in Detroit (not mine)

by Rob_Feature » Tue Feb 03, 2015 3:19 pm

Someone in Detroit, on Craigslist, is selling Seeburg wallboxes for $100 each. They look really cool and he claims one would work with my LS3. Can anyone tell me if this is a good price and what, exactly, I should look for if I decide to pursue purchase of one?

Thanks for any advice!

There's a lot there. if they are working and the chrome is ok, then that seems (from here in the UK) a good price.

I'd want to see more pictures of the chrome. Some have got to be a lot better than others.

From where you are it's about an hour's drive?
I'd go over there and choose one. I'd take a 25v a/c transformer with me to check them out. I wouldn't pay that amount for one not working or missing parts. It could cost a fortune to get it fixed, if you haven't the knowledge

Yeah, he openly says "some work, some don't". So mostly I'd probably choose one based on how it LOOKS and cross my fingers that it's generally working. Each one comes with manuals and he says he can provide extra parts if I find any missing. Seems like an OK deal. I offered him $75 since I'd have to drive an hour to get one...we'll see if he's open to that or not.

Rob,
The first thing I would do is request a photo of the insides--the board must either be "up dated"--have "air connections" including 4 new small caps, on the left side, or it must be the later style board--which has the four caps on it, also on the left--
You will need to check on the DCC installed in your LS-3 ( or any "MicroLog" model) to be sure you have a 311134-2 board, not a 311134-1 board installed.
Most often failed on the DEC's, is the title strip holder--be careful when handling it, as the bottom metal "shield" is too weak, and bends easily, thus jamming the strip holders---be sure the one(s) you get, works smoothly--
As for "price"--value is in the eye of the beholder??
