Rowe gas spring / piston replacement pressure?

I want to replace the two pistons on a Rowe R87. I was going to see if I could find something at the local auto parts store. I can measure the length needed, but I don't know what the pressure (pounds force) I should be looking for. Anyone know?

Mark,
I don't know the answer to that, but I do know that if you use the wrong ones, you will cause the plastic lid to fail !!
You might check above, in the "New--used parts--" post --the correct ones MAY be available ?? Ron Rich

Ron, I'll look. Thanks.

I guess if I put gas springs that are too powerful into it, someone will turn the key and be launched into orbit.

Mark.

I had this same problem with an NSM Prestige II. I was able to get markings of the pistons and find the original manufacturer and they were able to supply me with a proper replacement. Also, John has a good selection of them http://www.needles4jukeboxes.com/gas_springs.htm

Darrell,

Thanks for the feedback. The Rowe gas spring simply has the Rowe part number. I'll probably get it from John.

Mark.

I drove up to John's place in Massachusetts yesterday and got the gas springs for the R87. They installed in about 3 minutes and work perfectly. So much easier than trying to figure out which ones to get from an auto parts store. Plus, I was like a kid in the candy store and came home with a carload of miscellaneous jukebox parts that I needed. If you need gas springs, visit http://www.needles4jukeboxes.com.

Glad it worked out well for you. I have always found John to be helpful and honest. One of the first dealings I had with him really impressed me. I had ordered a few items from him. At about 3 weeks I contacted John and advised him I had not received my items. He asked if I would wait two more weeks, which I agreed to. Still no items after two more weeks. Instead of saying you should have insured your purchase or saying he was not responsible for USPS losing the items he mailed me the items a second time at no expense to me. After about two more months you know what arrived - the first shipment from John. I paid the postage to return the items I no longer needed to John and with payment for some of the items I decided to keep as spares.
