Restoring my Continental 1

Hi all,
I am restoring my continental 1 (mono amp) jukebox.
I was using my Dremmel to tidy up some laminex that I attached to the side and slipped. I cut through the wires that run between the volume control and the amp.
This has 2 wires in a metal shroud then covered with the plastic cover. I resoldiered the (internal) wires however, the metal shroud was somewhat more difficult, I did however manage to solder these wires together. It looks a bit messy but as I assume this is to shield the internal wires, I'm not sure if it will still work.
Will this still shield the internal wiring or am I better off renewing the whole length?
I cannot check if my soldering has worked as the jukebox is still in pieces. I live in Australia and will need to order from America.
Your opinion will be appreciated.
Regards
Gordon.......
