Can Anyone Help Identify This?

Hi all,

I am a complete newbie to this site and the wonderful world of vintage turntables, Yesterday I picked up this old Garrard Turntable and tuner combo floor standing unit. I would love to restore it to a workable form but before this I need to identify which model I've got. I've attached a couple of pictures which might help the more knowledgeable amongst you. I can see from the lable that the turntable is a Garrard RC 4 A. But appart form that there isn't much else to go by. From looking in the back of the unit there is a Rola speaker.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Couldn't tell you what make or model the console is. Are there any other tags anywhere? I would be willing to bet that it's a European/export model by the operating voltage of 200-250VAC. You might be able to find out from Gib at West Tech. He might know. His website is www.west-techservices.com and his phone number is 740-732-6056.

That turntable is a Garrard RC-4A from the mid 1930s.

Thanks for the replies guys.

45honcho, I'm based in the UK so I'll try email Gib at West Tech to see if they can shed any more light on who might have built the unit or how to restore it. In terms of labels there are a couple of other labels but nothing that would provide any more details to the period of when it was built or by who. There is a serial number etched into the back of the cabinet. I'll post a couple more images when I'm back at home.

Record-changer, yeah that was my guess also. From what I understand units like these were built and then components like the Garrard turntable and the turner were sources by the cabinet manufacturers
