Seeburg 100-77D Topaz in Australia

by Azamagnum » Wed Sep 04, 2013 6:55 am

Gday everyone,

My name is Aaron, I'm in Australia, and I came across this community while researching my Seeburg 100-77D Topaz.
Ive always wanted a jukebox for my mancave and I was lucky enough to come across this one in the local "freecycle" group.
Topaz is a little bit rough but I reckon she has the potential to be a ripper piece of equipment.

Mechanically, I think there is some gremlins in there. She works sometimes and not others. The lights always work but sometimes she wont play any selectons, or sometimes plays whatever she wants !

I have matured in the age of disposable electronics, so not flash at fixing these sort of things, unless its pretty basic.

I'd lke to get Topaz's insides working properly before I tackle the cosmetic parts.

Do you think that someone with limited knowledge would be able to get Topaz going again ? ?
I do have hand tools, soldering iron etc and can follow basic instructions.

If you reckon I could do it, then the next step would probably be buy some of those books and manuals that are around.

I look forward to your help, advice, criticism etc and getting Topaz going again.

Cheers,
Aaron

Hi Aaron,
Other then when they were new, I have had very little experience with them. However, except for the write-in and credit circuits ("C-Moss"), contained mostly within the "Red Box", they are basically just a "Seeburg".
I would advise you to purchase all Seeburg manuals pertaining to this model, (the late) Tony Millers "Red Box Book", and I would suggest that my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide" will be of help also--.
If you have specific questions after reading all that material, I will attempt to help, and maybe someone else can also be of help??

Thanks for the reply Ron,

I'll search for the books you mention over the next few weeks. Do you know if the "bundle deal" on Tony Millers website is still being offered ? http://www.west.net/~jay/fmillera/fmillera/books.htm
It appears to have all I need except the "manuals"

As for the manuals for Seeburg 100-77D Topaz, any suggestions were I can find one ?

Ive got a feeling this might take me a few months(or more) to get Topaz running properly.

I look forward to your help, but, after I do lots of reading !

cheers

Aaron,
See the list of suppliers above--Tony Miller's stuff is only somewhat available since his death about 3 years ago-----
His website is only a shadow now-also as noted above---
