Seeburg SCCD

Hello again: OK we bought a doaner juke a SCD1a and yes it did work and yes the parts are a direct swap over. Except for one thing. the keyboard has a different arrangement. vertical as opposed to horizontal, for the buttons. the manual info I have shows that dipswitch D position 1 and 2 program the keyboard configuration. well. no go. it is stuck in the SCD1a set up. either I don't have the correct info on the dipswitch setting. or the board has a problem. I could just move the key buttons around but that would look odd. I do have the service manual but it does not have the programming supplement. any help would be appreciated. I will try to get a full video up soon of it playing, the Sony player and the sound system do sound great. the machine it came out of had not had but a couple hours of use on it in the last 15 years, so we think we have a runner for a while. Looks great--which "Seeburg" built that one --"Seeburg Phonograph Corp", or "Seeburg International" ?
Does it have the one, or two, bass speaker set-up ?

Hello Ron and all: thanks for the look at the video. this one has 2 bass speakers. one forward and one firing downward out the bottom like the old 50's AMI's. since this is a 1988 model and uses the same guts as the SCD1-a I have the info as "Seeburg Corporation" out of Addison Il. this poor one was such a mish mash of various parts from several different units. When we got it had an amp from the 1st SCD1, the processor from an SCD1-a and who know what all else parts. I have not ever seen a unit that had almost every part bad and needed replacing. the only part I could not get is the SCCD eprom. so I had to swap the key buttons around to make it work. She's all good now! Mark

Hi Darrell,
With the two base speakers, that was the"2nd" version cabinet. --See if there is an ID tag on the rear/outside of the cabinet if so,it will show which "version" Seeburg built it, in small print, at the bottom. I did notice that the keyboard was placed differently--did you need to make up a new holder for it ? (PS--I'm jealous, as I have been searching for that cabinet for years---) Ron Rich

No ID tag present. Keys in key board were rearranged as to location account of not being able to locate proper eprom so it is original hollder, With proper eprom you can set dip switches to accommodate the SCD1A keyboard or the SCCD keyboard without need to rearrange keys.

I've been having some real issues with a Seeburg SCCD-2 "Classic" a friend of mine bought. And she paid quite a bit for it. "$700"I was devastated when I opened it up and it looks to be cobbled together. It had a techniques receiver and it and it looked like they had tried to of got the CD changer to it. The receiver no longer worked "Technics SA-GX490 " but then I found out that apparently they did install these home receivers into the jukebox. How they could legally get away with something like that I don't know. To my knowledge you weren't allowed to have FM receivers and the like in bars without paying royalties. Anyway it was haphazardly soldered part of it looks like they knew what they were doing the other part did not. I was able to find another techniques receiver on eBay and I can't find any schematics for this particular unit. I'm new to this group and still trying to figure out how to navigate this website

The techniques receiver in this jukeboxes a Technics-SA-GX490-Stereo-Receiver I found another one on eBay with a remote control for $40 so I bought it. They had taken the infrared sensor soldered a resistor to it had a paperclip with what I think is a thermally controlled breaker and clipped it to a heatsink. Ran some wires "I think this was done later by a hobbyist" from the volume potentiometer to an outside wire wound pot "just sticking through some holes and they drilled the back of the receiver and ran the wires no grommet or anything" and it was dangling outside of the jukebox. The thing is a mess I'll get all the pictures together tomorrow and post them.
