Magnavox Imperial Micromatic

by nehinger » Wed May 13, 2009 6:02 am

Good evening! After my grandfather passed, I was given his Magnavox Imperial Micromatic. This thing has lots of memories for me. As kids we used to sit around and listen to the "Jungle Book" album over and over. :)

The radio still works fine and the record player would still work if it had a new needle. Other than that, it seems to be fully functional. The cabinet is still in very good condition as well. I would say 9 out of 10.

I was told that it's a 60's unit?! My grandfather was actually a design engineer for Magnavox and my father tells me that it may be a prototype unit?! I am not sure if this is true or not but this is his recollection.

Does anyone know if thing is worth anything? I do not have it in my house nor am I using it at all, so I am considering selling it or giving it away. Hate to set it out to the curb for the garbage man. I thought I would do a little bit of research before I did anything with it at all and just see what it might be worth.

Any information that anyone could provide is greatly appreciated. I have attached a link with pictures of the unit.

Thanks!
