Seeburg STD4 not playing 100 through 109

by Benny26 » Sat Mar 08, 2014 3:54 am

Hello to everyone

I have a seeburg std4 that will not play selection 100 thrpugh 109 and 200 through 209. All other selections work great. The jukebox is coming together other than that everything works. So a rundown of what I have done. I did the 1.5 volt battery test and it picks every record up. I looked at the tormet underneath and wiped the old gummy grease off but I did not put anything new on it I was going to just put some dielectric grease on it. But I figured I should wait before I might ruin it. As far as cleaning it I just used a lint free soft clothes and I cleaned the trip lever on the bottom of that as well I looked into the contact points that are on the trip selection they look fine.

So I am lost

Any advise from anyone would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Benny

Hi Benny,
Need to know what "will not play" means ??
Tormat contact block is NOT your problem, if OK with Dcell check --NO GREASE !!!

Hey Ron

Welhat I meant by not play it will not pick up the record. I press 100 through 109 nothing but it will take 110. It will not pick up records when I press 200 thrpugh 209 as well. But when I press any other selection other than those it will pick the record and play.

And I got it no grease. So glad i decided to ask first.

Thanks
Benny

Hi Benny,
Sorry--I'm stoopid ! I still do not understand what you are saying--
When pressing the DES, do the lamps function properly ? Upon pressing the 3rd digit, does the Mechanism scan properly, or not ?

Hi Ron

So if I press any of these numbers 100 101 102 103 104 105 106 107 108 109 200 201 202 203 204 205 206 207 208 209 the mechanism will scan to that selection skip those selections will not pick up any pf thpse selection rwcords and then stop and what fpr a new selection. Say I press 146 or 246 it will scan to that selection and it will pick up the record and play tje record when the record is over it will reject the record and scan to your next selection you pick. Hopefully that helps

Thank you
Benny

Hi Benny,
OK--If it, in fact, will play numbers 110 thru 179, your problem is DRD-1 related. If not opened, it is probably a poor connection on the plug(s) going to it.
Try the following:
With the power OFF, remove and inspect all of the pins, and the circuit board.
Pins must all be tensioned correctly, and clean. Circuit board can be cleaned with a "Plastic-Safe--Safety Solvent", on a Que Tip. Ron Rich

Hello Ken

If I do the battery test yes it will pick up 100 through 109 and reject them. When the battery test is complete if inpress 100 through 109 it will scan past those selection s and will not pick them up.

Hello Ron

Thank you for the advice I will be looking at that today.

I will let you know what I find.

make sure contact block on Tormat is exactly aligned with nipples in home position. I had same problem on last 20 records. contact to
Tormat block was off by 1/2 thickness of contact on Tormat. maybe this will help...

James,
Nope--if it "picks them with a battery", the contact block is aligned well enough.
