Just joined the forum in hopes that you fine gentlemen could help point me in the correct direction for hunting down a few problems that I am trying to repair for my father in law on his Seeburg M100C.

I have had a few different problems and have been solving them one at a time. Most of which were solved by opening up and cleaning the contacts in the pin board.

My current problem that I am stumped on is a lack of cancellation on the even side of the pin board.

The unit functions as it should where a play selection triggers on the pin board, the mechanism scans to the selection, plays the selection and will return the record or turn off before completing the return of the record if there are no other selections present.

The only caveat to that is on the even side of the pin board. The circuit will not "cancel" the selection after a play. If there are no other selections, it will scan, then return to that selection.

This is only happening on the even side.

I have attempted to solve this problem with cleaning the timing points sets on the front and bottom of the mechanism. This has not solved the problem.

I plan on doing a full rebuild on this unit over time, but would like to get it running properly before starting on the refurbish of the individual components .

I do not have a manual yet and do not have Ron Rich's mechanism book.

My advise to yoou would be stop messing with it till AFTER you have the Manual and have read it! You have a very simple problem there, which you can make better or worse, by "cleaning/adjusting things what don't need no "adjustments"" -- If I understand you problem (this would be easier if you used the same terms as used in the manual), the even side pin cancel coil either fails to fire, or the plunger misses the pin-- You will need the schematic , or you will need to trace the wires thru to the reversing switch. You will need to determine if the popularity coil fires when the cancel coil should , and if so why is the coil failing--or is the plunger just missing the pin ? Ron Rich

I have not adjusted anything. Only cleaned the contacts.

I will heed your advice and cease operation until the manual and you mechanism book arrives.

It is hard to see that coil on the even side of the pin board. but I do believe that it is simply not firing.

I look forward to working on this unit and hopefully with some guidance can get it back to where it once was when it was in service.

My father in-law did report that recently the power switch has failed and a "nut" has fallen off of it. I will take a look and see what has happened as we live in different cities.

As i stated before. I plan on rebuilding the unit for him. I believe that the best course of action will be to rebuild the unit one system at a time. I believe that I will start with a re-cap and rebuild of the amplifier.

Two things cause this problem--a "stuck plunger" in that particular coil, or a failure of the "make/break switches" on the mech cam switch--
One quick check--see if the popularity meter coil is activating on either, or both sides, of the selection--If activating on both sides, the coil plunger is most likely stuck, or the coil sleeve has "migrated" upwards. If the plunger is stuck, and you are very "cleaver", you can fashion a paper clip, and stick it into the rear end of the coil, which will free up the plunger( for how long ??)-- If the pop meter operates only on one side, your problem is either a lack of/improper lubrication, or the cam follower is not "following" the cam, for some reason ?
