That sounds pretty good. Brunswick did a great job on those late acoustic recordings.

I have a non-branded Paillard very similar to yours --

I found that the two screws holding the needle bar's plate can be adjusted for maximum output and minimum record wear. What I did was to loosen them, and then tighten each one so that the plate is held firmly in place, without putting undue pressure on it. (In other words, I stopped turning the screws just at the point when I felt resistance.)

This does an excellent job playing electrically recorded records, and sounds similar to the portable Viva Tonal models produced by Columbia. When fitted with an Orthophonic sound box (using an adapter) it sounds identical to the VV-2-55. You can really hear the bass. My only complaint is that the tiny--and I mean TINY--mainsprings only allow me to play one record on a full winding.
