I have been asked to look at a friends model 100R jukebox. The only manuals he has are for the 100C. Are these compatible? The box has been sitting for a bit and picks the record up , places it, and as soon as the needle touches it rejects the record back and then picks it right back up and starts the whole thing over and over and over again. So I would like to know if I can use the model 100C manuals to troubleshoot the model 100R. Yes I know there is another thread about 15 lines down on the model R with about the same problem. It's close, but not the same problem..

Books are almost the same as are the two models--but you may not find that problem "fixable" using the original service manuals--I did detail it in my "Seeburg Mechanism Manual", however--

Hello Kent.

Either you or the Seeburg owner should purchase a copy of Ron Rich's Mech Book directly from him. It costs less than a tankful of gas and will never depreciate as a used copy is being sold on ebay at retail. Just get it from the author. Ron's mech guide is the best investment you will make when repairing ANY model Seeburg Jukebox as they ALL will have mechanism issues not covered in the official seeburg manuals.

With that said, when a Seeburg of mine had that same problem (T Miller common symptom #1 of 4); I ended up having to remove the clutch yoke pin to clean off the miniscule amount of varnish inside the shaft that kept it from moving freely. Oiling the clutch yoke from the outside only fixed the issue sporadically which was frustrating. Pulling the clutch and giving it a complete degreasing and reoiling with sae20 3In1ElectricMotorOilwill make the jukebox happy and play consistently. Reinstalling takes patience. If you are going to remove the clutch you really really need to read Ron's Mech guide beforehand.

I don't know if this is the problem with yours but it is common as old lubrication over the years turns into glue, varnish, cement, goop, etc.

When working on my first seeburg as a total noob, I made a youtube clutch tour video - just google "clutch tour seeburg jukebox" and you will find it. When I first removed the clutch in the video, the gear teeth were covered in solid brown goop / varnish and every part moved slowly.

Thanks for the link! I am going to wait till Rons manual gets here before I do anything. I'm a little more "gutsy" when the unit belongs to me. Since it's not mine I'm going to do a lot of reading first.

I have looked at this site in the past and it was good that the late Tony's site was still in use for all to see and an excellent epitaph to his love and life with regards to jukeboxes.
