hi
my AMI JBI 120 Turn table is running slow I think about 42rpm, is there a way of increasing the speed or do I need a new turn table motor, I have owned the box for about 20yrs, it was last serviced three yrs ago

David, check that the rubber mounts that hold the T-T motor are still pliable and holding the motor shaft high enough to make full contact with the idler puck.
Check also that the puck is not totally hardened, this will cause it to slip. If the puck surface is hard you may be able to get more use out of it be carefully abrading the surface and removing any glaze with a file.
Check that the bearings that swing to hold the idler in contact with the motor and turntable are free and have adequate spring tension.
Finally, if the T_T starts slow but speeds up after a few minutes the cause may be glazed motor bearings. Lubing with a light oil will help for a while, but disassembling the motor and deglazing the shaft will probably be necessary.

Hi All,
I am not sure, but I think that this is one of the AMi models that suffer this problem (It MAY have been older models--memory is cloudy here). If so, there was, and may still be, a "correct speed kit", available for it. Check with Harold Hagen at
www.hagentech.com. You can also reach him thru Alwaysjukin Magazine at
