Webster-Chicago MOdel55 turntable

I bought a Webster-Chicago turntable to add to my 1940's room I am making (even though I don't know when it was made). i thought I had a speaker that would work but it won't. does anybody know about what kind of speaker works with this. I can just barely hear it as the speaker i bought won't work. also what speed record does it play. i can hear mine is running too fast for the record i put on it.

You have to run the changer through an amplifier to hear anything. You can't just hook the tone arm wires up to a speaker as there isn't any voltage there for the output. As far as the speeds, I'm not familiar with that changer, but probably due to its age, it is only 78. Especially if you don't see a speed selection knob, it is definately only 78 rpm.

That unit plays 10" and 12" 78 rpm records, sizes not intermixed. It was made sometime either before or after World War II.
