Seeburg HF100R Speakers

I have a customer who wants to put NEW base speakers in his HF100R.
He's not bothered about original speakers and he would prefer something "off-the-shelf" that doesn't cost too much.
What would be his best option for replacing the two 12" woofers?

There aren't many good options left for this sort of application.

Jensen makes a line of "vintage" design speakers, but these are built for musical instrument amps and have wildly erratic response curves. They are not inexpensive. they are available with bass resonant frequency in the 70-90 Hz range depending on model. If you go this route it is a good idea to also add a crossover, or at least a choke for the woofers to keep the peaky areas of their response attenuated.

If the existing speakers have decent frames, a reconing is best IF you have the right company do it. Efficiency and a free-air resonance of around 70-80Hz is best for these drivers.

IMHO--installing "better"speakers, will not change the sound of that phono much, if at all. Seeburg, like most jukebox makers designed the whole sound system around the cabinet enclosure. Many times "better speakers" sound worse, in that situation ! If bad, I would opt for a good re-cone job, or if damaged, beyond a re-cone job, I would look for used replacements. Ron Rich
