Rockola 429 credit unit

by clones » Mon Dec 17, 2012 4:25 pm

Hi
I have a rockola 429 which i have got up and running and i have an issue with the credit unit, its not something i have had problems before in other rockola's but i am stumped on this one. It won't credit up via the coin paddles or the credit button on the credit unit itself, i can hear a slight buzz at the accumalator assembly each time i try to credit it, but the rachet doesn't move, the metal paddle on top of the rachet moves slightly but thats about it. I measured dc volts at the coin switches and where they plug into the credit unit and am getting a reading of 9.6 VDC. I can set up credits manually and it works fine, the reset pawl operates after each selection until such time as it reaches the end, after which i have to go through the same process again, i would like to get it working rather than set on free plaY (by removing the pawl and spring) as i don't want the solenoid to be energised all the time. This credit unit does not have a replaceable fuse but has some sort of breaker that resets itself and is crossed with a 100ohm 5 watt resistor which measures ok. There are a couple of other resistors on the credit unit and these measure fine, there a three 50ohm resistors the cross each of the electro magnets on the accumualtor assembly, and these measure fine, i notice on later rockolas diodes are used, looking at the credit unit and all the bits and pieces it appears uncomplicated but i can't seem to get to the route of the problem

Clones,
I would guess that the resistor "crossed" ("jumpered" across, I assume), the CB is not "factory" installed ??
I would further guess that the voltage is way too low to fire those coils.
If I were to have this problem, I would purchase a schematic (from one of the "legit" sellers, listed above, in "announcement--where to find---") and proceed from there. I would suspect that the value of that CB is NOT shown--and therefore would research what size fuse was used in that circuit in earlier models, and replace the CB with either--Ron Rich

Hi
The manual does specify a 100ohm 5 watt resistor, i'll try the fuse method and take it from there

I'm confused--the manual says it is in series with the CB, or in parallel ?

OK--that makes sense--I was wondering about the word "crossed" ? Ron Rich
