Help with NSM Prestige II

My mother recently moved in with me and brought along her record collection and her jukebox. Remembering how much I used to love to play songs on it all day I immediately plugged it in and turned it on and tried to play a song. First the carriage would just sit all the way to the left and click. When I looked at it a little closer I saw the carriage was just a little off the track. I pushed it back into position and it bounced back and forth a few times then played the record slowing down every few seconds. Thinking it might just need to warm up I played another song after that. The next song worked a little better, only slowing down every 20 seconds or so. After that the carriage went all the way to the right side and stayed there. I don't know very much about jukeboxes at all so I pushed the eject or reset button on the back. Nothing seemed to happen. I opened up the front and pushed the carriage a little to the side, it moved very easily and then began going back and forth like it was looking for a record. It stopped on the next record and failed to lift it after several attempts. It then just moved all the way to the left and hasn't moved since. I don't know what to check, or if there are any parts that needed to have been maintained. Are there things I should check to make sure are connected fully, or perhaps parts I need to remove and/or lubricate? I live in a small town (Socorro, NM, USA), and I can't find any listing for someone that might be able to look at and fix it. I also do not have a manual for it. I remember the jukebox working not more than a few months ago when it was still at my mothers house. I know it needs a new needle on the left side, but I don't think that would affect how it plays the right side of the record. Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated. I love this jukebox and I know my mother would like to have it working again too.

Ok, I got it to play more songs. For some reason the peg the left wheel was sitting on was pushed out and was catching on the records. It is still having problems keeping up the tempo on every song it plays, and it does occasionally play the wrong side of a record spinning it the wrong way. The second problem is fine, I just eject the record and tell it to play again, but I don't know how to remedy the tempo problem.

It sounds to me like the jukebox was not "secured for shipping" before it was moved. Could be that something has been damaged from the mechanism not being secured first.

That would make sense, but is there any semi-simple way to tell what is causing the problem without paying a large amount of money to have someone come look at it or trying to completely disconnect and remove the carriage to take/send it in to someone? I just want to make sure there is nothing more I can reasonably do to get it working before I begin paying someone to do it.

I'm not familiar with much of NSM jukes. They were always last place competing against other jukebox manufacturers in the USA. Heck, even our local distributor's service department could not repair the few NSM's we had on the route back in the day.

Before you try anything else, sparingly use some denatured alcohol on the rubber drive wheel to remove any possible residue. The use a pencil eraser to lightly rough up the rubber drive tire. I had the same speed problem with my NSM Prestige II and a friend suggested this to me and it worked great for me, I hope it resolves your speed problem also.
