Elac Miracord model 50h Question..Help

Hello,

Just picked up this changer at a thrift shop. Used to own one when they were new in the late 70's. This one is in great shape however it's missing the power cord. There are two orange wires, one a little shade lighter then the others and one yellow wire. I put on orange wire together with the yellow wire and hooked them up to a cord. It works fine and I have power but when the changer goes through it's cycle and shuts off the motor still runs and the light that appears under the speed selector is also lit. I really wasn't sure how to go about this so I am hoping that some one could give me some tips on what I did wrong. Thanks for the help!!!!

That third wire was for automatic shutoff of an amplifier when the changer shuts off. Find the wire that is connected to both the switch and the motor. That wire should NOT be connected to the power cord. Instead, use electrical tape to cap it off.

Everything should be in series, like this:

- A. Small blade of power plug to switch (hot side of the line).
- B. Switch to motor (the third wire is also connected here, and would be capped off)
- C. Motor to large blade of power plug (neutral side of the line).

If you had the automatic power base they sold, the following wiring is added:

- B. The third wire goes to the small blade of a power socket in the original base (hot when switch is on).
- C. The large blade of the power socket in the base is connected to the large blade of the power plug (neutral).

If the changer was in a portable or console stereo, the following wiring is added:

- B. The third wire goes to the amplifier power (hot when switch is on).
- C. The amplifier power return is connected to the large blade of the power plug (neutral).
