Wurlitzer - bypassing the BO/AC unit

by jukinbill » Mon Apr 15, 2013 7:44 pm

Does anyone know of a way to set a Wurlitzer 3600/3700/7500 machine on permanent free play mode and bypassing the BO/AC unit? We have a 7500 machine that we have no desire to insert coins or to have to flip the free play button each time we use the jukebox. Is there a way to put the machine on full-time free play? Thanks

Don't you just unplug the pricing card just like a Seeburg?

Bill, Ken,
Nope--that don't work on a WurliTzer--
Remove the BO/AC plug, and jump pins 2,6,7, and 8 together in the socket--(or build a dummy plug that jumps those pins together). Ron Rich

Ron, do you mean remove the BO/AC plug from the control box and put a dummy plug there or should the dummy plug go into the BO/AC input jack from the selector? Thanks

Ron, when you say 2,6,7 and 8, which ones get connected together in the dummy plug? 2 with 6 and 7 with 8 or another combination? Again, thanks for your help. I do appreciate it !

Ron, one last question on this topic and I'll stop bugging you. When you say "all together", does it matter which pin location you do this with or is there a specific pin slot? There are several pin slots on this connector. Thanks again!

Bill,
The "connector" should be about a 15- 18 pin Molex socket.
Remove the plug from this socket and wire "holes" # 2, 6, 7, and 8 together, with the appropriate
Moles pins, and (optional) Nylon connector. Ron Rich

Hey Ron, I had somebody Email me with a concern over doing the bypass of the BO/AC unit. They wondered if the latch solenoid would remain open and overheat and burn out by doing this. What do you think?

Bill,
Not a problem in a WurliTzer--the latch solenoid resistor WILL be very hot,--if that bothers you, replace it with a 5 or 10 watt unit, of the same resistance value--Ron Rich
