STD3 - Records playing slow

I noticed the other day that the records are playing a little slow in my STD3. I do not have the optional speed control (although I would like to find one). Could the DCC need to be recapped as well? I am getting ready to order caps for the amp, so would be good to order all at the same time. When I picked it up, it played fine, but was in a warmer room. It's present home is a shop that does not get above 60 this time of year. Any thoughts?

As regards temperature. Both my jukeboxes are in an unheated summerhouse at the bottom of the garden. To control the temperature and damp, I have a box of moisture absorbing crystals in the bottom of each (like they use in caravans). I also have an inspection lamp with a 60watt incandecent bulb hung in each, both lamps have guards and are hung away from any point of contact and with the tops of the jukeboxes closed. I find by checking with a max/min thermometer, that they don't get much below 50f, but more importantly, it keeps them free from damp. I "turn them over" a few times a week in the winter around mid day.

"Slow when cold" indicates a lack of, or improper lubrication, of the whole mechanism, including the motor.
You may need to remove all old "lubrication", and whatever "junk" there is, and re-lube the whole thing--properly, with the correct oil.

Ron,

I was wondering about the lubrication issue. I have not looked at the mech as far as lube goes yet, have not had any free time. But I am guessing that is probably a contributing factor. Do the caps in the DCC play a part in the record speed? Should I replace them when I do the amp just for good measure? I just got a copy of your mech manual and it is good stuff in there. When I get a chance (soon) I will be removing and washing the mech. Sounds like a good afternoon. I will pm you regarding an autospeed.

No DCC has nothing to do with the speed-- Ron Rich
