Rockola 477, 484 and 488 opto boards

Just wondering have many people found problems with these boards such as intermittent contact and the records spaces subsequently not being recognised, LED doesn't flash and the record basket turns continuously and the selected record is not picked. The board also seems to be subject to alot of vibration from the chassis. These boards which are found on the later Rockolas from the late seventies and early eighties. The plug contacts don't seem to be very good and they drive me mad, one minute the record spaces are being recognised the next they are not. Just want to know what people did to solve it, did anyone solder the wires directly to the opto board and just bypass the plug/ connecter
