New to jukebox repair. I have a 50 record Wurlitzer 3200 that I am having problems with.
Initial Symptom: when record completed playing, would not return to carriage all the time. If I pressed the record loading arm down, it would then usually grab record.
My mistakes: tried to clean the mute-play switch contacts with a business card. In process mangled the spring.
Result: now timing seems all messed up. Also the cancel button is now not pulling down the record on initial press - I have to hold the button down to get it to change the record.
Tried looking on page 8C of the manual.
Current symptom: press selector and the record carousel turns to the correct position. Then nothing happens.
If I push on the mute-play switch, I can get the record to load and play successfully. When record ends, it stays in the play position and the turntable continues to turn.
If I play with the mute-play switch, I can get the record to come down.
Since I mangled the spring, the jukebox is starting with the mute-play switch to the right (as you face the back of the jukebox). This seems incorrect to me as the cam is open at this time and I would think the switch would need to activated by the spring and be to the left. When I increase the spring pressure to accomplish this at startup, I get mixed results and essentially the same problem).
Questions:
1. The cam is open at record start, is this correct or have a messed up the timing?
2. Should the mute-play switch be tot eh right or left when the cam is "open"?
3. Any advice on next steps to try to fix this?
4. Best place to get a new spring (part number 124485-A, about 1.25" long 0.20" wire, 0.021" OD)
Thank you for any help or advice you can provide. Pic attached.
