448 rockola credit unit

by highlander68 » Mon Mar 16, 2015 3:45 am

hey everyone I have been working on my 448 rockola as it would sometimes give me credit when I dropped in quarters and other times it wouldn't, when I opened the credit box I noticed that the center terminal holding the resister had broken free and the Accumulator assembly was burned and a fine wire from the center magnet was broken off looking on ebay I found one for $75 and $30 dollars shipping
so if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear from you
Thanks Bill

Hi
Maybe the credit unit is salvageable. The price is a bit the upper end. Maybe there's a problem with the coin paddles at the slug rejector that caused this to happen

Hi clones
no its the credit unit that is causing my problem the accumulator part with the resisters is burnt and one of the terminals is burned of its magnet part, I just don't know if I can find just the accumulator part or just pay the high price for a used credit unit

Hi
I presume you have tried the usual suppliers, or maybe put an add in the wanted section in phonoland, the credit units don't usually give much problems. I know myself i have paid over the odds for parts before to get a machine up and running , its jsut something that you will have to put up with but the effort will be worth it

Bill,
As Clones stated--didja try the suppliers listed above, in the "stickies" ?
I don't quite understand the "--terminals burned of it's magnate part", but it probably can be saved--
Do you have the Service Manual/parts book ? If so, what is the part that is burned ? -resistors can be easily replaced-

hi Ron
the part I am talking about being burned is the coil_accumulator electo magnet part #14001
and the resister that is burnt it the 470 ohm 1/2 watt #15686 I thought I could repair it by resoldering
it back together but a fine wire on the electro magnet part broke off so I believe it would pay me to just buy the whole
credit unit finding one is the problem as the ones I have found are untested

Hi
Can you post a picture of it, i might have one or at least the accumulator, or pm me with a picture, even ones advertised as untested should be ok , if it were one of the later profit setters i would be more worried
Happy St. Patricks Day to all on Phonoland,

Hi clones
I will try and post a picture for you and if I am successful you will notice the black smoke mark behind the raised resister with the red wire that's in the middle of the accumulator its raised because that's the one that burned of, hopefully you will see what I am talking about
Thanks Bill sorry cant seem to add pics keeps saying its to large and I really don't know how to make them fit
