Seeburg SS 160 Showcase

Newly acquired machine. SCC3 control center and 45TASU2 speed control have been re-capped. Selector s/w's have been cleaned and
checked for broken wires. Start and hold s/w's have been cleaned and adjusted. After several flawless plays, while making a new selection, the selector buttons stayed pulled in. The subtract solenoid in the UDPU5 credit unit stays pulled in and blows the 1 6/10 amp fuse. I have checked all the s/w's in the credit unit and tightened the connections from the coin s/w's and the selector s/w's to the credit unit as well as checking the start and hold s/w's again for broken wires or bad connections. Any ideas regarding where to check next would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the Service Manual and the Trouble Shooting Guide ? The guide will pinpoint your problem to the contact in the UDPU.
Is the subtract solenoid energizing in the UDPU, when the keys on the TES are down ?? Is the timing relay energized at that point? Is the SCC bias voltage OK ? Ron Rich

I have an original Service Manual but no Trouble Shooting Guide. Yes, the subtract solenoid stays energized when the keys are down. Not sure about the timing relay or bias voltage; will have to check. Thanks

Thanks for raising some great questions. +40 volts d.c. from SCC3 was lost due to open 1.5 amp fuse. Replaced fuse and machine is firing selections flawlessly. THANKS again.

Change the cap in the UDPU--it MAY be a 100x50. It should be a 200x50 if updated. be sure the leads are not touching anything--usually the cause of the 1.5 fuse blowing --- Ron Rich
