Im thinking capacitor problem ?

I was lucky to get a-hold of a rockola R91 for very VERY reasonable, It selects and picks up the CD(yes, it has CD's not records, I know thats a sin), but will not produce any sound, the only sound coming out is a hum that comes on as soon as you plug it in. capacitor problem ? Fuses have been checked and all seem to be fine.....any ideas?

It Is A rockola R91(just google it and see),or are you being sarcastic? It is a CD machine, made to look like the 1940 countertop wurlitzer model 71

No, I was not attempting to be sarcastic (I CAN do better then that !)--"R-91" is a Rowe AMi model number also--and the Rowe mech was purchased by the company that is now called "RockOla". The Rowe AMi unit had a 100 record 45 rpm mechansm in it, and was available with a "home" CD player mounted under the standard mechanism.
Prior to purchasing the "RockOla" name plate, this company made retro- Wurlitzer type, cabinets using new RoweAMi "guts". They included the RoweAMi "R-91" service manual with each one. This may be what you have in that cabinet--I'm not sure. They did make the countertop model--I was unaware of the model designator, of the "counter top" cabinet.
Look at the "control" center to see if it has any ID numbers on it--then check the player for any ID. If you like, send me photos of all the components, including the amp, and I'll see if I can ID it and help you. Ron Rich

Hello Ron...If I have time I will try to get some pictures, but until then hear you go.....It does not have a 45 mech. It holds 100 cd's and the the CD mech is a product of rowe(thats what one tag says), the name on the front of the machine is antique apparatus, however, the model ID tag says model R91, and another small tag says product of rockola, Yeah I know Right????.....I read on a juke info site something about the companies merging..just like you had mentioned in your reply, ...so thats that , i guess you could consider it one of the 3 names, but any way any ideas about why I dont get any sound and just a hum?

Now you have me totally confused--Rowe and "RockOla" have not merged--they are (as far as I know, at this date) two seperate companies--
Your sound problem could be the player, the Mech controller, or, most likely, the amp--could something as a wire unplugged-somewhere --see if the volume control wires are hooked up--Ron Rich

I think what you have is an Antique App. (now called Rock-ola) reproduction of an old juke called a "91". It had a ROWE CD mech in it and some of the parts were made by AA. The amp was made by ROWE, but it was modified by AA. Do you have everything hooked up like a ROWE amp needs? Input, output, volume control, mute circuit and AC power.... If I remember correctly the amp was in a drawer like arrangement underneath the mech, split apart, laying down, worked over to fit the cabinet. Its is commonly called a 130 watt unit. You need to follow any guidelines for the ROWE 130 watt amp hookup.
