Rock-ola 448 Cosmetic Question

by rvalkenburg » Tue Jun 09, 2015 4:18 am

Stupid question but driving me crazy as I can not find anything in the manuals, or by searching for pictures. Hoping maybe someone here has a Rock-ola 448 that can tell me what goes in the upper windows on the top top on either side of the title board? I have one of the cards that says "Stereophonic" "High Fidelity" "Solid State" in 3 different colors, but what card goes in the other window? Does anyone have a template for these cards by chance :-)

Ron: I don't have the answer for you, but you should be able to find what you're looking for. The Parts Catalog should show what goes there, and if you search Google images or something similar on another search engine you should be able to find pictures. Just keep in mind you might be looking at pictures of one that's been modified from the original config.

I have the parts manual and those cards are not listed in the diagram for the Dome Assembly. I have searched numerous sites, pictures and videos and can not make out what the other card is displaying.

Eventually I will figure it out. Someone here must have a Rock-ola 448 that can send me a pic of. :D

Ron,
I just had a 448 in for repair--I do not recall any "windows" around the title strip section ? From what I recall, this section sits up top, with a small ( 2-3 inch ?) painted boarder around it--has some silk screen top/and bottom---Are you sure of the model number ?

The 2 small windows are on the top left and right of the dome glass, yes it is a Rock-ola 448. To be specific, they are to the left and right of the selection numbers at the very top of the glass. I have 1 of the cards that is taped in, looks original which say "Stereophonic" "High Fidelity" "Solid State" in 3 different colors, but the other side is empty and you can see into the machine. I will have to take a pic and post it.

Ron,
Could it be a "pricing card" ?

Here are both side of the dome glass....
The card on the left side.

Area where something is missing.

The pricing cards are down by the selector buttons on the deck on the 448.

Ron,
If you have tried the "usual suspects", listed above, go to eBay and search RockOla 448, and you will see a seller called "bagheracat".
It appears that he has stripped several, and he is a "nice guy", so he should be able to at least tell you what it says, if not sell you one.
His name is Dennis--please tell him hi from me--Ron Rich

Funny you say that...
I bought the tone arm assembly and a few other parts he had listed for the 448 already and asked him the same question and he has nothing in the windows on the one he is parting out. I have also bought other parts from Dennis in the past so he knows me well :-).

I will keep searching...

Thank you,

Thank you very much, I was wondering if that was the card as I saw that on the Rock-ola 449, but the 449 I saw had that tag in both sides.

Yes It must have been common because my 454 jukebox has the same.

The 460 has one on each side and I've not been able to find them in the parts book. If you do find it, please post. Also, on my 460, a previous owner had taped a crumbling "now playing" back in place and the pulled-off tape removed the graphic from the inside of the glass. Add that to the list of bad ideas.
