Seeburg B blowing 3 amp fuse

by ds100h » Tue Sep 22, 2015 8:13 pm

I have a Seeburg B that the previous owner had has how set it to free play(?) no button to push so I have not figured out how it was set to free play? I installed a free play unit and it has operated fine for about 3 months. Now when you make a selection, the selector buttons latch down, the selector lights dim and the 3 amp fusee in this circuit blows. The latch bar solenoid has seen better days, it is charred from being over heated at some point. I need to trace down what is blowing that fuse, so is there a way to test the latch bar solenoid or is that item not the culprit?

Any direction would be appreciated.

Hi Darrell,
You found it--change the Latch Bar Solenoid (BEFORE you insert a new fuse)( and hope no wires are shorted together)( this is why I strongly suggest that NO Seeburg, that has a latch bar solenoid, be free-played, without using an electronic free play unit ) !!!

Thanks Ron.

How can I figure out how to undo what the other person did to free play the unit? Or does the free play unit I installed override the other damaging free lay method and I do not need to undo whatever was done to free play it?

Best

Darrell,
That's a "chicken/egg question--In MOST cases, the FPA I sell will "over-ride" that problem--
