Help with Rowe Storm

by kentmoore » Thu Sep 27, 2012 4:31 am

I am getting no voltage readings from J2 on the Ballast for the fluorescent lights. Any ideas where to get one? I checked the internal fuse thru the side with my meter, checked good.. I am also missing one of the small light fixtures just above the selection area.. Think I need to find a good junkyard for jukes. This seems to be the only thing wrong with my new toy...

Are you getting no "line voltage to the ballast, or nothing from the ballast ?
"Junkyards" are listed above, in "announcement--used-new--where to find--"

Ron, I looked thru the section. Then went to all the websites. Saw nothing for the wallbox juke ballast...

Did you take the board out of the case and look at it? Rowe recommended to remove the 2 small tubes on the door, they melted the plastic next to it.

Didn't take it out...have it off and I need to do that....The 2 6 inch bulbs are gone. The one above the selection area was cut off and wire caps put on the wires. I rebuilt the reader and put it back in......and nothing. Changed out the Mechanism Control Computer and worked fine. Just hooked up one speaker and had sound. So I need to find a Mech Control also.

Took mech control apart. See nothing visually wrong. Since everything funtions as it should till after it places the cd on the reader...Im thiniking one of the transistors is bad. All of the correct lights were on the entire time it was trying to play. The reader just would never spin up. Did nothing at all.

Took the Ballast apart....Everything looks good EXCEPT the resistor at R1. It's burnt up................Fuse at F2 looked and ohmed out good. Fuse at F1 looked good but ohmed out BAD...So my problem is definately in the top Cap (C1) area.....

Just to let everyone know what happened. I replaced the tip32a transistor in the Mech. control computer. Works great. Got a new 1/2w 91k resistor for the Light Ballast and got it going also. Hung it on the wall and ran a RCA jack cord to the home stereo and I am running it thru it. Sounds Awesome!!
