Buzzing RCA Victor SHC-760

by RcaVictor » Wed Jan 11, 2012 3:40 am

Hey guys, got a loud buzzing from my old record player. all the wires appear to be properly secured and i can hear the music playing behind the buzzing. Any idea what direction i should be looking, or if this model record player is worth repairing? i did notice a burnt looking area on one of the fuses, but its still lighting up like all the rest

I strongly suggest that you unplug it, and have it looked at by a qualified person.
As with anything electrical, when not operating as it should, leaving the cord plugged in, can cause additional "problems" (sometimes very serious --like a fire !).
As for it's value, I don't have a clue--hopefully someone else will--

Value? $10.00 maybe. What you are refering to is a tube not a fuse. I suggest you unplug it and get it to a qualified repairman. As Ron stated it will only get worse. Probably, bad electrolytics are to blame but it is repairable.
Vinyl is disease which attacks that area of the brain desiring digital recordings. Once you catch it, you are cured.
