STD3 Seeburg Picks up record spins it and then ejects it

by havarob » Tue Aug 16, 2011 2:19 am

I have a STD3 Seeburg and my issue is that i select a record the mech picks it up, the tone arm goes into place and then the record is ejected. Can this be mech switch 3m12 3m11 or s1103? if so does anybody have a diagram on where these switches are..

Thanks everybody for your time

Rob,
1st, I would humbly suggest that you purchase a Service Manual PACKAGE, for that phono. Then I would hope you would also purchase both my "Seeburg Microlog Trouble Shooting Guide", and my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide", as I think they would help you. I would suggest that you purchase the package from www.alwaysjukin.com or, www.victoryglass.com, as they have the most complete/best copies. My books are available directly from me at ronnnrich@yahoo.com
To trouble shoot your problem, you will need to determine if the problem is mechanical or electrical. a quick answer can be had by removing the "mech" (mute) plug from the amplifier, and playing a record. If it now plays, the problem is electrical. If it still returns the record to the rack, without playing, it is a mechanical problem. Ron Rich

Update, I got the Jukebox working. The problem was the clutch needed some oiling and a stuck lever that needed oiling too. Now I have an issue with the sound. It works great and all of the sudden gets staticy and crackle and pops out of the speakers and works again. Is this maybe an amp problem? Is there a rebuild kit I can get?

Thanks everybody for your time

Rob :)

i Rob,
Glad you got-it ! Hope you used only the proper oil---(SAE 20 wt. ND motor oil)
As for the amp Which model/code is it ?--
Those symptoms would most likely indicate a a poor contact somewhere, NOT, necessarily, in the amp. I don't think a "cap kit" would solve that--
However, "Kits", are available from www.verntisdale.com. Ron Rich
