Good reply, Alan.
I see you're a Rowe-AMI man...
I have an AMI "A" (M-o-P) that's crankin' out the hits on 78. Love it. Until the timing goes :( wrong and the grippers don't retract and it chips the edges of the entire collection. Ouch! BT, DT, got the blood-soaked T-shirt. :-((
Cheers!

Randy,
What do you do to fix it when the timing "goes wrong" ?

Hello Randy & Ron,

I have never had call to work on one of the 78 players that were fitted in the 1946-7 Model A wasn't this called the Mother of Pearl? this mechanism was still avaiable until the 1953 Model E that had a 40 selection version.

The mechanism I would think operated very similar to the 45 versions of the 50's and were chain driven mechanisms.

I would look at the lubrication and for any wear on the gripper bow assembly and the gearing and any micro switches on the drive chains, I would assume there should be tensioners on the chains, but please correct me if this is not the case, as I say I have never seen one of these only pictures.

Regards
Alan

Alan,
I have had very little experience with the 78, and 45 mechs. of that type, but from what I have observed, the 45 rpm models were just a "shrunkin down", as needed, version of the 78 rpm model.
Yes--the "A" was called a "Mother of Pearl" model--don't know if that was a factory designation, or just slang--

Hi Guys,
My first post seems to have evaporated. If this is a duplicate, please excuse.
The AMI A, "Mother of PLASTIC" had 3-D white bulbous pre-formed plastic frames around the mech window. Backlit by multi-color flourescent tubes. "Jewels" on the bottom were the crowining touch. The Whurly 1015 never stood a chance. (!)
The Record RACK moved forward and back, rather than the phono assy moving.
Timing was dependant on a microswitch deciding when the grippers retracted and "scan began. Learned the value of "sacrificial" 78s.
Still have the 12-record simplex mech and accessories. Hate to see it go to a landfill.
Cheers!

Are any of these parts still available?

I need:

-Cover for the credit accumulator
- Rear (larger) oil drip pan
-wood baffle for the back of the speaker enclosure (hole cut for speaker magnet)
-back door

Thanks!

Hello,

I am looking for a Wurlitzer 412 credit accumulator cover. Do you still have one available for sale? Also looking for the bottom (larger) old drip pan.

Thanks!

-Tony

Randy: I just joined the group and saw your old ad for 412 parts. Perhaps you still have cabinet. If so, I am in need of several pieces of bottom moldings- decorative center pieces, both left and right and the right side bottom molding. Can you supply?
